When she pulled away, overwhelming guilt and sorrow filled Chase. He felt as if he’d done something wrong and already had a million apologies ready to fire at her for doing such a stupid thing.
Brooklyn didn’t scold him, or yell at him, or even show disgust. She smiled. It relieved him from the piling emotions. Her head on his chest - did she feel the same? Was this really happening? He couldn’t be dreaming…
With another kiss, he caressed her face, grinning on her lips. His free hand entwined with hers. “You’ve always made me crazy…”
Brooklyn felt pretty stupid again, knowing that Chase had always liked her… A thousand memories flashed through her mind. She had always thought Chase was just being nice. How could she have not seen anything?
As she kissed him again, more questions and thoughts flooded her mind. She didn’t want to think, so she blocked the thoughts out and forced herself to focus on what was happening right then.
Not really knowing what to do, she lifted herself onto Chase and continued to kiss him, sort of worried she was doing something wrong. But then again, she couldn’t be doing something wrong if it felt this right.
Chase loved this. He was just eating it up, basking in every moment that went by. Never in his dreams would he imagine she would initiate such a thing. It always seemed impossible, implausible.
Which is why something kept nagging him from somewhere within him.
If she was just being crazy, then this meant nothing. It was just something that happened. She couldn’t feel the same way for him that he felt for her - it wasn’t possible. This could be just an impulse. He’d been friend-zoned from the start.
The nagging grew louder and more annoying, no matter how hard and deeply he tried to immerse himself in the beautiful girl atop him, kissing him, driving him wild. His focus was breaking. He couldn’t mend it. He cared for her too much to just…
Goddammit. Goddamn everything. Goddamn me.
“Brooklyn,” he exhaled, gently pushing her lips from his. They felt to naked, so empty now. Bringing them to say what he did next almost caused him physical pain. “Stop.”
He swallowed, almost crying at how pissed he was at himself for doing this. “You…you have to stop…”
