“No, no, no. I’m fine.” she promised, trying to convince herself more than Chase. She repeatedly told herself that everything was fake in her head until the movie was over. It was horrible, the movie, but something about it being horrible made it all the more entertaining.
Brooklyn let out a large sigh when the movie was finally over. Her eyes were wide and scared. “Yep. You’re going to have to stay the night.” She nodded, finally.
He chuckled, patting her leg. “I told you to turn the damn thing off, Brooklyn. Now you’re gonna have to deal with my insistent kicking all night.”
Chase swallowed hard. He was actually excited to be staying the night, but also, and mostly, very nervous. Very. Very. Very, very nervous.
